Agnes Utunga Phiri is a Business Development Manager and Communications Specialist with over 25 years’ experience. Currently working with the South Africa Multi-Country Office for the United Nations Women for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women, Agnes has had a long-term career with the United Nations spanning over 25 years.  She has worked on development issues such as Gender Equality and Women EmpowermentEnding Child Marriage, Utilizing ICT to address Gender Based Violence and Maternity Protection for Informal Workers.  Agnes has coordinated, co-edited and produced several Case Studies to provide advocacy and mobilisation of stakeholders to address challenging development issues such as HIV and AIDS; ICT and development; and Ending Child Marriage.   

Agnes was part of the UN Observer Mission contingent to monitor the first South Africa Democratic Elections in 1994 and she is a Cherie Blair Foundation Mentee Alumni (2016-2017).

Dale Mullany

Dale started his career in advertising as a Graphic Designer, moved into Art Direction, and now heads up the Innovation Department at TBWA Hunt Lascaris. 

Over the years, his creative mind and strategic outlook have helped shape him into one of South Africa’s best problem solvers.

In addition to winning multiple local and global creative awards, Dale’s work has been recognised in the Cannes Game Changer book; a book that highlights the world’s best advertising over the past 60 years. To be considered game changers, creatives cannot simply just change the way consumers think about a brand, they must also shape the way the ad industry works. 

Dale spends his spare time heading up Happy Lab - a product development start-up that aims to help humans thrive - with his creative partner Keith Manning.

Jarred Cinman

Jarred is the CEO of VML South Africa, widely regarded as the best digital agency in South Africa, and a part of one of the leading digital agency networks in the world. Jarred founded one of the first professional web services firms in 1995. After selling his first business to the VWV Group, Jarred became part of the founding team of VWV Interactive, which went on to dominate the web development industry during the late 90s.

In 2000 Jarred left VWV to found Cambrient, which became the leading provider of content management solutions in South Africa. During this period, he started The Digital Edge podcast, which produced over 100 episodes and evolved into The Digital Edge Live, the largest annual digital conference in SA. In 2010 Jarred was part of the team that merged Cambrient into NATIVE, which became NATIVE VML in 2013. He was elected as deputy chair for the DMMA for 2012, Chairperson in 2013 and then drove the rebranding to form the IAB South Africa, of which he was chair for three years.

In 2013 he was awarded Best Individual Contribution to SA Digital Media & Marketing at the Bookmark Awards. Jarred sits on the Loeries Committee, was a Board Member of SAARF and The Creative Circle, and is a Board Member of DALRO and, in his spare time, he answers his email.

Melissa Attree

Melissa Attree is a Creative Director at Ogilvy Cape Town, where she has specialised in digital, social and PR work for the past 11 years.  

Over the past 22 years, Mel has worked on both client & agency side in the market, PR, content strategy & creative spaces. She’s worked on: ABSA, ABInbev, Adidas, Audi, Coca-Cola, Dove, 5FM, KFC, Gumtree, MasterCard, Mondelez, Nando’s, Nedbank, SAA, Tiger Brands, Tracker, Toyota, Unilever, Vodacom, Volkswagen and Woolworths. Mel is a thought leader in the Social Media space in SA and is regularly invited to present at public conferences. 

 

Neo Mashigo

On top of being the Chief Creative Officer for the M&C Saatchi Group, South Africa, Neo is also the Co-Founder of I See A Different You – a collective of Soweto-born creatives who set out to change the world’s view of Africa. In fact, throughout his career, Neo has been passionate about the creativity in Africa and producing work that better represents the continent. 

He is former Chairman and current board member of The Loerie Awards – South Africa’s premiere advertising awards. He also sits on the Executive Committee of the Creative Circle, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting creativity as a business tool. Before joining M&C Saatchi Group, Neo was Executive Creative Director at two of South Africa’s largest advertising agencies, Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg and FCB Johannesburg. While there, he was instrumental in leading both these agencies to the top spots in creative ranking tables. 

Neo has won several local and international awards including a Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity and The Loerie Awards. But his greatest achievement is his ability to identify and develop black creative talent that become leading creatives in the industry.

Nkgabiseng Motau

Nkgabsieng Motau holds a bachelor's degree in creative brand communication from the Vega School Of Brand Innovation. During her time there, she was awarded a gold Pendoring for the branding of the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital among other accolades. Nkgabiseng began her career at Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg working on some of South Africa's most loved brands such as DSTV, Cell C and Cadbury. She has also worked at FCB Africa on brands such as Old Mutual, Wimpy and Coca-Cola for which she was awarded a Gold Loerie in the category of Effective Creativity. Nkgabiseng now works in a through-the-line creative agency called Think Creative Africa as Co-Founder and CCO.  She gives back to the industry in the form board membership in Creative Circle and The Loeries Committee as well as mentorship through The One Club Creative Bootcamp and The Loeries Open Chair. Through Think Creative Africa, she is pursuing commercially viable business that puts society first.

Well, after 38 brochure copy briefs with 3576 reverts, 27 60” radio campaigns reduced to 10” live reads, 9 riveting Andrew Human Loerie Welcome Speeches, 7537 furious index finger slams on the tab button while operating Microsoft Word, consistently clicking “save” instead of “save as” and 1800 days of chase timesheets, I’m cynical AF. But good luck out there, I’m sure you’ll get a shortlist. Everyone does. I love this game.
