  1. When do entries for 2017 open?
    Entries for 2017 open in February. All work flighted between to 01 June 2016 and 31 May 2017 can be entered. 

  2. Is there a deadline extension?
    Final Entry Deadline: 07 June 2017
    Entries completed (entry form, payment and all material received) after 15 May, will be charged the 10% late fee.

  3. Who can enter the Loeries?
    All countries from the Africa & the Middle East region can enter ALL the categories. However entries from outside South Africa will be judged separately.

  4. If multiple companies worked on a project, can they both enter the same work?
    Companies must agree in advance who will submit the entry and they must agree on how the credits will be completed. If an entry is received from more than one company, only the first entry will be accepted. No refunds will be given on duplicate entries.

  5. How do I choose an entry category for my work?
    The Loeries Office can offer guidance, but as the entrant please familiarize yourself with our categories to know which category best suits your work. It is the responsibility of the entrant to submit their entry into the correct category and the Loeries will not be held responsible for entries submitted incorrectly.   6. Why does The Loeries allow my work to be entered in only one category?
    The principle behind this rule that a piece of work can only be entered into one main category is that the Loeries will award an idea only once. Therefore, the same creative execution cannot be awarded in Magazine and Poster and Newspaper. Even if you did run the same execution across all these mediums, you must choose only one category to enter it into. HOWEVER – you can combine several individual pieces that you have already entered into Type A categories, into a campaign entry (Type B). Work may also be re-entered for any eligible craft categories (Type C) as well as Multi-Entry (Type D) categories.

  7. What is the difference between Communication Design Crafts and Print Crafts?
    All Communication Design entries must be entered into Design Crafts. Print Communication, as well as Outdoor & Out of Home entries must be entered into Print Crafts. Should you only be entering a craft entry, you can decide if you want it to be judged by designers (Design Crafts), or by agency creatives (Print Crafts).

  8. Will the entry categories remain the same as previous years?

  9. What work can I enter into the Loeries?
    You can enter any work that is created For the Region OR From the Region. All work that has been created specifically for and to run in Africa or the Middle East, irrespective of where the work was originated or produced. And work created by and in the region can be entered into the Loeries. For more clarity read here

  10. Is there a time period on the work I can enter?
    The eligibility period is dependent on the entry category. Please read here to know more about the category specific dates. All entries (excluding student work) must be commercially published, launched or aired to a substantial audience within the eligibility period.

  11. What are the entry fees for 2017?
    The fees to enter work into Loeries Durban 2017 vary depending on the entry section. To see the prices and entry sections, click here.

  12. What is the criteria for Student work?
    Any student work created and submitted during 2016 and up to 31 May 2017 may be entered. Where possible, the work should be submitted by the registered educational institution (School/ College/ University) from the Africa & the Middle East region, rather than directly by the individual student.

  13. How old must one be to enter the Young Creatives Award?
    If you are turning 27 in 2017 or younger, you can submit a portfolio of their professional work from the last three years. Entry is FREE.

  14. How do I enter Young Creatives?
    Entry into the Young Creatives Award is FREE. No more than five examples of your professional work from the last three years must be presented in one electronic pdf. No phyical material will be accepted. For more click here

  15. Do I need any consent or approval to enter my work?
    All entries must be approved by the relevant client for whom the work was produced for. All necessary permissions and agreements with third parties and/or other licenses must be obtained prior to the entry.

  16. How is the work judged?
    Work is judged anonymously in two rounds - this means that the judges do not know the agency that entered the work and judge only on the merit of the entry. For more information on the judging process read here.

  17. Who are the judges?
    Judging panels are changed every year, and all Loeries judges are experts in their relevant fields, chosen on merit and their position in the Loeries® Official Rankings™.

  18. After submitting my entries, what is the next step?
    The next step is to start planning your Loeries® Creative Week™ Durban. You can buy tickets and book accommodation via our website from March 2017.

  19. When will we know if our work has been shortlisted for an award?
    All the work entered into #Loeries2017 will be judged during Loeries® Creative Week™ Durban from Monday 14 - Thurs 17 August. Finalists are announced daily after judging, sign up for our the Loeries Newsletter to receive announcements.

  20. Can I wait to see if I'm a finalist, before buying my tickets?
    Attending Loeries® Creative Week™ Durban is more about networking with the entire brand communication industry than seeing if your work is up for an award. Tickets will likely be sold out long before judging takes place - so make sure to purchase your tickets and book your accommodation soonest to avoid disappointment.

  21. When is the awards ceremony?
    The awards ceremonies are held on the Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August during Loeries® Creative Week™ Durban and offer an opportunity for brands and marketers and brands to view the very best work coming out of our region.

  22. Where can one view the winning work from 2016?
    All the #Loeries2016 winning work can be viewed on our Archive.

  23. What happens to the 2017 winning work?
    All the winning work is filed into our Loeries Archive. The current archive is open to all for viewing, while access to the previous years and the Official Rankings requires a subscription. Then the award-winning work is compiled intp a travelling showcase that exhibits at schools, major centres and colleges.

  24. What are the 2017 dates for Loeries® Creative Week™ Durban?
    Loeries® Creative Week™ Durban takes place from Mon 14 Aug to Mon 21 Aug 2017.

  25. What is Loeries® Creative Week™?
    Loeries® Creative Week™ is the the biggest gathering of the best minds in our region. Durban provides the space to connect and network, and build business relationships outside the office structure Loeries® Creative Week™ is a festival of innovation and inspiration. Hosted in Durban from 14-21 August 2017 across different venues including along the Durban beachfront promenade. Key events including the Judging Week, the new MasterClasses, the DStv International Seminar of Creativity, Loeries Expo, Adams & Adams Studenty Portfolio Day, various industry networking functions, black-tie Awards Ceremonies and the Channel O Party.

  26. I'm not familiar with Durban, any tips on where to stay?
    The best place to stay is at the Elangeni-Maharani – all of our judges and VIP guests will be staying at Tsogo Sun. We’ve partnered with Tsogo Sun to offer the best rates. Other hotel options are the Garden Court and the Suncoast Casino – both also within walking distance of each other.
